What is Anti-Mullerian Hormone (AMH)?
The anti-Mullerian hormone is a hormone produced by granulosa cells of growing follicles (during early stages of their development) in the ovaries. This hormone determines ovarian reserve in other words it defines the quantity but not the quality of follicles in the ovaries. It can also be used as a PCOS marker.
The anti-mullerian hormone is tightly related to issues of fertility and of high importance to those who are trying to conceive. It has been used as an ovarian reserve marker since 2002. The ovarian reserve is also a strong indicator of the pregnancy treatment outcome.
Are you being examined for infertility? If so, you will most likely have to check your AMH levels.
Normal AMH levels: 1.5 to 4.0 mg/ml
Low–Normal AMH levels: 1.0 to 1.5 mg/ml
Very low AMH levels: below .5 mg/ml.
AMH Level Effect on Females:
A woman's body contains millions of follicles at birth, but over the time the number of follicles may decline. Doctors use this test to measure the amounts of growing follicles in the ovaries. Women with low levels of AMH indicate low levels of follicles and thus produce lower levels of immature eggs. It is very normal for an older woman to have a lower AMH level because it is a known fact that both the health of the follicles as well as the number of follicles declines over time.
AYURVEDIC TREATMENT BENEFITS AT OUR CENTRE:
There is a way to tackle this very well with Ayurvedic medicines. There is still a possibility that you will fall pregnant and will have your own healthy baby. Be positive and work on this. Do not lose hope even when you are trying to conceive. However, in my practice, I have seen older women with low AMH and helped them falling pregnant with Ayurvedic treatment in 6-7 months. Recent research on mice now suggests that female mammals produce eggs throughout their reproductive age. Well, that's happy news. The study also showed that follicles may not originate in the ovaries themselves but within the bone marrow. And that's what Ayurveda told so many years ago that from Majja dhatu (bone marrow) Sukra dhatu (reproductive system) is formed and nourished. Now you will believe me when I say Ayurveda will help you with your infertility issues.
